Yet am I content

The weather has been sunny and cold for a while: bracing and invigorating, even if occasionally requiring double gloves. That changed today: grey and vaguely depressing, with a headache in the offing. (A common complaint. I can't sleep flat with my lurgey lungs. Finding a way to sleep sitting up is proving elusive, though in my youth- 54- I managed it no problem post-surgery.) Also the person who'd offered to do most of my shift had to cancel, and we also have an outside replacement worker today and at least two unhappy kids, if not three or four.

But I turned up at work to find only six kids, with hand foot and mouth having taken out the others; also this term's student, who proves to be intelligent and mature, and to whom one of the screamers has attached himself happily. So for this reprieve much thanks, universe, even if I have to work from 9 tomorrow.
