3. When *I* was at the Korean super I bought lotus root. Buying lotus root here is a crapshoot- mine turned out to be lightly black inside the holes, suggesting one not eat it. There's also the fact that lotus is naturally tannic and one isn't supposed to eat it raw, which kerblonxes my nibbling instinct when cooking.
4. Work is underenrolled so I can decide not to show up for my late-day shifts without reproach. Not working rather grows on me. Granted, just as in '09 when I did the time-off schtick, I'm in rather too much pain to enjoy the experience completely. But-- maybe the difference between time off in late summer and time off in mid-winter-- I find myself at much less of a loose end now. If nothing else, in between reading and tea-drinking, I can do my exercises and hope for relief.
