08:45 pm - Happy Things
1. Waking in the winter morning and checking email and FB on my cell phone, warm in the bedroom, rather than firing up the desktop in the freezing study: where I must also sit on a chair that hurts my grumpy hips and knees.

2. Equally, lying wrapped up in flannel in the side room bed, sipping Ovaltine and re-reading Carriger, with the cell phone handy again to check all those time-wasting things one does check online. And not able to play online solitaire, so having plenty of time to read in. There's a very good reason I've put no games apps on my phone, and why I've held off on buying a tablet.

3. For today at least my knees are happier than they've been any time these last six weeks and more. Possibly strengthening exercises actually do strengthen, but given the swollen achy state of the meniscus and all attached ligaments just the day before yesterday, I'm assuming this is a passing state owing to shoes and bicycle, which will end in tomorrow's flurries and boots. But I did get to go for a walk this evening, first time in a week, with minimal twinge.

4. Fiesta had Heirloom Eggs, a pale green colour. Not due to chickens eating worms, alas: these are grain-fed Amaraucanas in la belle province, descended from "the domesticated hens of the indigenous people of Chilean Patagonia." Good enough but not sock-knocking-off. Or even as good as duck eggs.

5. Friend will be starting a new job: better pay, flexible hours, not a two hour commute from where she lives necessitating getting up at 4:30 or 5. Am so glad for her.

These all sound excellent things. Very glad to hear your knees are feeling better.

As suspected, the remission did not survive the evening's exercises. But good to know that improvement is possible, and not just a matter of 'today the pain is in a different place than yesterday.'
