My internal calculator has lost a year. Lost it some time around 2012, on the evidence. Intellectually I knew 2014 was ten years after 2004, but last year, 'ten years ago' meant 2003. And now, 'ten years ago' means 2004, and reminders that it was in fact 2005 feel all wrong. Or maybe it's psychological: 2004 is still, for the first half at least, the ancien regime of Saiyuki and dragons and Aestheticism and fandom; while 2005 is the beginning of the bleak modern age that looks back to that golden classical time and sighs.

But 2004 or 2005, it was still ten years ago; about time I got past it.
