You know who else wrote verse that rhymes and that's never translated as rhymed verse? Cavafy. So where's Vikram Seth when you need him? Greek, even demotic Greek, has to be easier to rhyme than Chinese.

Whenever I have a new volume of Hundred Demons I burble about how lovely it is to read a new volume of Hundred Demons. You may take my burbling as uhh, well, read this time. Because it truly is a lovely cozy fulfilling happy-making thing, like nothing else I can think of except maybe lying in bed on a winter weekend when you don't have to get up, only better than that.
