Sleep disorders are not insomnia, they're disordered sleep

I begin to think my air purifier runs on a frequency that makes it sound, to slightly blocked ears, like a phone ringing in another room, because I've had three nights, or mornings, in a row of being woken by a phantom telephone at too early a.m. and not being able to go back to sleep. There actually is a phone in the bedroom but it's ancient- a rotary- and the ring level has become muted. Which is fine because I hate being ripped from sleep by a normal level of telephone. What I need to do is convince myself that the real phone, which shakes the table it's on, sounds nothing like like the distant fake phone, so when I hear the latter I can just roll back to sleep rather than sitting up with pounding heart thinking Was that the phone?

Possibly also once this week's early risings, for electricians and dentists, are over, I'll be able to relax again.
