Mi casa no es tu casa, maudit insecte

So evidently the reason mud-daubers daub is to provide a place for their young to grow. What I took for a worrying creak from my computer turned out to be a mud-dauber in the corner of the bookshelf, servicing a series of mud-cells on the cover of my Chinese-English hanzi dictionary. The cover has come loose from the dictionary itself, which is fortunate, because it would have been harder to bang the whole thing against the window edge to dislodge parent and offspring, as I did. Would rather have mud-daubers than wasps, on the whole (has so far been a blessedly wasp-free summer) but wish they'd stay out of my study.
