The weather pages torment me by assuring us that temperatures will be above freezing every day, and the every day there's another inch of snow fallen overnight. This not only keeps me housebound, it keeps me in a constant state of Ache and Twinge. Environ Canada calls for sun from Wednesday to Saturday, which will dispose of the snow, but Accuweather says cloudy all week with, yes, more snow on Wednesday. I should regard this as practice for the post-op month when I really will be housebound and crippled, but right now I'd just like to be out on the bike again.

I have a number of things inherited from the family house and geared to a lifestyle I never had. Among them is several silver wine cups. Wine is supposed to taste better in metal so I rousted them out, only to discover that though they'd been sealed in thick clear plastic bags, they'd all tarnished. So I googled a bit and then tried the baking soda, hot water, and aluminum foil method. 'Add baking soda to the pan of hot water. It will bubble a bit.' The hell it will: it will geyser in a tsunami wave and douse the pilot light. Obviously, do this step in the sink, then pour over the silverware in their foil-lined container. (A pyrex baking dish missing its lid that I never use but keep because you never know when it will come in handy. Like now.) The method works reasonably well, but not perfectly. The vinegar and baking soda paste actually works better. And yes, wine does taste better in a metal cup.

Now what to do with all the silverware I inherited as well? Because eating with silver is a step too far for me.
