I hope October is not going to be as grumpy a month as the first day would seem to indicate.

Peters, Ghost Ocean
Harris, Living Dead in Dallas
Harris, Club Dead
Harris, Definitely Dead
Todd, Legacy of the Dead
Barker, The Orientalist and the Ghost
Todd, A Cold Betrayal
Todd, Wings of Fire
Todd, A Matter of Justice
Todd, The Red Door

I remember those sunny early days reading about Southern vampires. Alas, the last two weeks has been all traumatized WW1 soldier detectives and their domestic ghosts. Yes, and Thich Nhat Hanh and Isabel Allende, but it's the Ian Rutledges that read easiest when too many people are away at work and too many things are going wrong at home.

Also it's dark at 7 now, which is depressing.

Hopefully in November we will have a traumatised WW2 soldier detective and his domestic maid of unknown nature. Oh, and Peter and everyone else too.

Is this a real thing? Book or TV?

Ah, sorry for being confusing. I meant Foxglove Summer, IIRC, the next book in the _Rivers of London_ Series. I think it's due out in November.

It's I who's muddled. I was thinking Peter Wimsey, even though he's WW1. Yes, I guess Nightingale qualifies as a soldier, even though the whole Arts background always felt more Bletchley Park than Dunkirk somehow.

Oh, and there's that LJ 'revert to default icon' thing turning up for me this time. Can I edit?

Aaronovitch has hinted we may find out more about the female tradition in this book, which should be interesting.
